Terms of Service

By installing or using Filament, you agree to these terms. They are written plainly — no tricks.

1. What Filament is

Filament is an Android app for tracking 3D printing filament inventory, developed and maintained by Bruno Santos, trading as The Cynic Dev ("we", "us"). It helps you track spool stock, log prints, and get low-stock notifications.

Filament began as a personal tool and is shared publicly as a useful utility. It is maintained on a best-effort basis by one person.

2. License to use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Filament on devices you own or control.

The Free tier may be used indefinitely within its feature limits (up to 5 spools). A Filament Pro purchase unlocks Pro features for the Google account that made the purchase and is not transferable.

3. What you may not do

• Reverse engineer or redistribute Filament's source code
• Sell, sublicense, or transfer your Pro purchase to another person
• Attempt to circumvent Google Play's purchase verification

4. Filament Pro

Filament Pro is a one-time purchase, made through Google Play Billing, that grants access to Pro features as they exist at the time of purchase. The price is set per market and shown in Google Play before you buy. We will maintain and update the app on a best-effort basis for as long as development continues.

We make no guarantee of indefinite support or compatibility with future Android versions. If development is permanently discontinued, your installed version will continue to function until Android platform changes prevent it.

In the event that development is permanently discontinued, an End of Life announcement will be posted on this website, confirming the date after which no further updates will be provided. It will remain accessible for a minimum of 12 months.

5. Payments and refunds

All payments are processed by Google Play Billing. Google acts as the merchant of record and handles your payment details directly — we never see or store your card information.

Refund requests are handled by Google Play, not by us. See Google Play's refund policy for the current process and eligibility window.

6. Google Play Services and your Google Account

Cloud Backup requires signing in with a Google account and is subject to Google's own Terms of Service. We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or policies of Google Play Services, Google Drive, or Google Play Billing — these are operated entirely by Google, independently of us.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

Filament is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with any current or future version of Android. There is no obligation to provide uptime, maintenance, or support for any specific device or Android version.

Filament is maintained by one person in their spare time. There are no guaranteed response times, uptime commitments, or service level agreements of any kind.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bruno Santos shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from use of Filament, including loss of spool or print data. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for Filament Pro.

Your spool data is stored locally on your device. Data may be lost if you clear app data, factory reset your device, or if your device fails. Cloud Backup (Pro) reduces this risk by syncing to your own Google Drive, but you are responsible for enabling it if you consider your data important, and for keeping your Google account secure.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected with an updated date above. Continued use after changes means acceptance.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal.
